The first recorded Olympic Wrestling match occurred in 708 BC.   You can now introduce your son or daughter to the basic fundamentals of this ancient sport right here in Sonoma Valley.  Wrestling will help build self-confidence, mental determination, and physical conditioning, which will prepare your child for junior high school, high school, college and life beyond school and athletics.
            
            Wine Country Wrestling, a non-profit educational youth program and member of CAL-USA Wrestling Association, is run by Director/Coach Marty Clein.  Practice is held two nights a week, in preparation for year-round weekend tournaments.  We are welcoming boys and girls ages 4-14, with year-round training available at all experience levels.  There will be ongoing support from the current high school wrestlers and veterans of the Sonoma Dragon Pit Crew!!!
            
            WCW will build a strong foundation of wrestling.    We will focus on the basic fundamentals and train hard to be able to compete at the highest levels.  This will help solidify the Dragon's team goals for the Sonoma County League Championship (SCL), North Coast Section Championship (NCS) and California State Championship (CIF).  

            WCW will continue a tradition for training Sonoma Dragon champions!  That tradition was started by former head coach Roger Winslow, and his son, current head coach Deets Winslow.   Deets' assistant coach Kyle Baird, former Santa Rosa Junior College wrestler, has been a big part of the continued success by the Dragons, and now takes the program over.  The Dragon are rebuilding, and will come back stronger than ever!

              WCW is always looking for donations and volunteers for our youth program.  We need uniforms, knee pads, singlets, headgear, etc…  With your support we can raise the level of wrestling in the Valley of the Moon.
